Welcome to DCS Montessori, where children are

Inspired for Life….

DCS Montessori is the Standard of Excellence in Montessori Education. Montessori education is based on the “Follow the Child” concept, where instruction is provided following the child’s developmental abilities. Children are instructed in large and small group lessons, as well as individual lessons, but the emphasis is an individually paced education. Independence is fostered through an environment where student choice and control is respected, where students have freedoms with responsibility. There is a focus on cooperative learning, as children learn from their peers growing self-confidence and social skills. Montessori materials are designed to address the specific learning styles, and to provide error control in order for students to learn from their own mistakes rather than only at the directive of a teacher, and therefore the concept that our Montessori teachers are more guides than teachers.

Online Check-in

Online Check-in July 20 - August 6th (closed July 23, 24, and 25)

Online check-in is the mandatory process you need to complete before your children can attend school. This is the first year we are using the program; however, all district middle and high schools used it last year with great success. You may access the program only from July 20th - August 6th. You will access the Check-in program online by clicking the link below and by using your Parent Portal user ID and password. Please allow yourself about 5 minutes to complete the process for each child enrolled at our school.

LINK for Online Check-In --> http://www.dcsdk12.org/apexsa/f?p=CHECKIN_PARENT

If you do not remember your Parent Portal user name or password, click here --> campus.dcsdk12.org/icprod/portal/icprod.jsp and choose the "problems logging in" link. The system will send your information to the email address attached to your record in our database.

You will not need to pay any fees during the Check-in process. We will email you the week of August 9th with your balance due. We request payments be made at our Open House on August 13th or on Monday, August 16th.

Open House

On Friday, August 13th, we will hold our Open House. This is a chance for new students to visit their classroom and meet their new teachers. Lower and Upper Elementary students can bring their school supplies too! This is a great opportunity for returning students to visit their classrooms and teachers before the start of school. This event can be important to help relieve those new school / new teacher jitters—especially for new students to our school.

This will be a very busy Open House because students will also have their pictures taken—Please come during your assigned time—most folks end up visiting in the classroom for 15 minutes or so.  We can’t wait to see you!

New Playgrounds!

Playground

You have probably noticed the piles of rock, dirt, and gravel along with many trucks and construction crews at our school.  We are busy building new playgrounds for our students.  The Primary playground will remain the same; however, we are expecting to be able to remove the gravel and replace it with engineered wood fibar.

The playground nearest the parking lot is completely different - see the photos of our new equipment!  And the biggest part of our project is underway - a complete tear down and rebuilding of our large playground which the elementary students use each day.  We will post photos here as we progress - so keep checking back to see the latest changes!
