Art
Katie Bright is in her second year of teaching art at DCS Montessori. She attended Colorado State University where she received a degree in Art Education with a concentration in painting and pottery. Before deciding on teaching, Katie majored in Art History. This is still one of her many passions which is why she tends to incorporate as many historical aspects into her lessons as possible. She feels art is a universal language, which means anyone from anywhere can look at the art from another culture or time and still learn something from the visual stories being told. Katie would love to earn a Master’s in Education one day in the future.
Katie was raised in a military family and moved several times before making Colorado her home in fourth grade. She has always loved visual arts and anything where her creativity can be expressed. After meeting her inspirational art teacher in high school, she knew art would be in her life forever. Her favorite aspect of teaching is watching her students’ reactions when they are introduced to something completely new. When Katie is not at school, she loves spending time with her amazing and supportive family, especially her adorable son Weston. She has recently started running in half marathons and although the journey to the finish line might be a bumpy one, it’s definitely worth it in the end. Katie would be honored to teach at DCS for the remainder of her career. She loves the students, staff, families, and overall environment DCS has created.
