Upper Elementary Faculty Profiles
Glenn Albert
Glenn Albert - Lead Teacher, Upper-elementary Education: Since graduating from high school, I’ve attended Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, MI. Transferring to Colorado State University in 1986, I completed a Bachelor of Science in Parks & Recreation Resource Management in the College of Forestry & Natural Resources in 1989. I earned a Master of Science in Education from Northern Illinois University in 1991 concentrating on environmental education. My Montessori Elementary I & II Credentials were completed in 1999 & 2002 at the Dallas Montessori Academy in Texas. I’m currently taking classes with the Western State College in the Alternative Licensure Program. I have enjoyed an active lifestyle since my childhood in Michigan. Camping, boating, swimming, and sports have occupied my seasons. Boy scouting and church also had a big influence in my life. Today, I still enjoy the outdoors with my family whenever possible. I’ve held several positions in my young adulthood, including a nurse-aide and orderly, at a local hospital. I made a career at Delta Air Lines as a Senior Customer Services Agent in Detroit and Denver from 1976-1986. I met my wife Lisa while a Graduate Teaching Assistant at N. I.U. We have two sons, aged 11 & 14. My career as an educator began as a Park Naturalist at nature centers across the country, including Bear Creek Nature Center in Colorado Springs, CO. I continued with teaching at Pikes Peak Community College. This will be my 10th year as a Lead Teacher in a Montessori classroom. I especially love to share the joy of nature with my students by teaching in the outdoors.

Teaching is my third career path and by far my most cherished. I have been at DCS Montessori since 1998, but prior to that I had been a litigation paralegal charged with assisting in the preparation of multimillion dollar medical malpractice cases. Prior to that, I had been a drug and alcohol counselor working with both addicts and families in Indiana and in Fort Collins. I have spent all my years at DCS in Upper Elementary, four as an assistant, and the subsequent eight as a lead teacher. I am Montessori certified for both lower and upper elementary levels. I have a BA in Technical Journalism from Colorado State University and have met all requirements as a “highly qualified” teacher in the state of Colorado.
Hello, my name is Matthew Long and I am an Upper Elementary teacher. I began my teaching career by graduating from Wartburg College in Iowa, with a degree in Elementary Education. I have been working at DCS Montessori for eight years. I began here as an assistant in a Lower Elementary classroom. After spending a year in the classroom, I decided that this was the place for me and spent the following summer in Boulder training at the Montessori Education Center of the Rockies and the following school year interning in a Lower Elementary classroom. Toward the end of the year a classroom opened up and I took over for the next two years. In 2006, I decided to give Upper Elementary a try when a classroom became available. I spent the next summer training to receive my Upper Elementary certification. Currently I am finishing up a Masters Degree in Literacy, from the University of New England.
