The DCS Montessori Dance Team is a great opportunity for all Upper Elementary students to show school spirit and be a part of a unique teamwork experience. The Dance Team is now in its sixth season and performs their energetic routines during a school assembly and an evening performance.

Students will learn all types of dance and gymnastics moves and gain a true meaning of team commitment while incorporating our Montessori philosophy. Any Upper EL student is invited to join, girls and boys, regardless of past dance experience. The team meets after school every Tuesday and Wednesday until 4:30 p.m., with one “super” practice once a month until 8:30 p.m. They work hard and have lots of fun and celebrate their success each year with a holiday party and gala end of the year celebration.

Ms. Karen will announce when the informational meeting will happen later in August. The dance team starts in September! Join the fun and show your school spirit!

The younger children learn the parts of a book, how to take care of their books and the responsibility of returning their books when they are due. Students learn how to use the computer catalog to find books they are interested in. We have a visual catalog for the younger students. The students learn the difference between fiction and non-fiction books, biographies and reference books and how the library is organized with the Dewey Decimal System. They use the library as an extension of the classroom and learn to find books for their book reports and research projects.

Our Mission

 Nutrition Services is operated as an enterprise fund separate from the general fund. Operating expenses are paid through federal funds and revenue collected from the sale of food. This means that district property tax money ends up in the classroom where it belongs. Our mission is to serve our students nutritious meals promoting healthy food choices of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein.

The Learning Support Services Department at DCS Montessori is comprised of a learning specialist, speech language therapist, school psychologist, occupational therapist, and a paraeducator. The Learning Support Team supports students with unique and special learning needs through the use of current research data and best practices. The team’s responsibilities include collaboration with regular education teachers, staff, and families, to determine individual needs for student needs who qualify for the program. The team works to plan appropriate instruction, modify and adapt curriculum, provide accommodations as needed and evaluate ongoing student progress. Our mission is to help students reach their optimal potential by creating and maintaining a positive learning environment dedicated to producing and supporting high quality learning within the Montessori school community.
