CommitteesDCS Montessori has many needs for volunteers and efforts which come from collaborative work with our Head of School. These collaborative efforts are channeled through one of the following committees: 1) Finance Committee – The Finance Committee is comprised of a parent, the Head of School, the Business Manager, and our Board of Directors Treasurer. They meet quarterly to examine our financials, and as needed for budget development and alteration. 2) Development Committee – The Development Committee is comprised of a number of parents, a member of our Board of Directors when possible, and the Head of School. The focus of this quarterly meeting body is to examine the marketing of the school, as well as to seek out grant opportunities for the school, and provide discussion and reference for advances by the school in these areas. 3) Parent Involvement (The PI) – The PI is our Parent Volunteer, Communication and Event coordination group. The PI oversees the Fall Festival, Room parent coordination, and helps with MEF volunteer coordination for school fundraising. The funds the PI raises through the Fall Festival are under their designation for expenditure with Head of School approval. The PI then plans parent nights to improve our community. 4) Building and Grounds Committee – The B&G is composed of our Building Engineer, the Head of School, and two parents to discuss needs and inspections of the property. This group is responsible for setting Building and Grounds Improvement plans annually. Through these Committees we give our Members, our parents, the opportunity to participate in shaping the future of their child’s school…we look forward to your participation! |
Volunteer at DCS MontessoriVolunteers are always needed and appreciated at DCS Montessori. Our volunteer recognition board regularly acknowledges our volunteers and there are many ways you can help our school and our children; such as helping students find books in the library, filling weekly Friday Folders to go home to parents, or substituting for an Educational Assistant when they are ill. If you work full time consider being your classroom’s Scholastic Volunteer and process orders, help our Foundation with one of our fundraisers – ever more important with the budget cuts all schools are currently experiencing. There are many, many ways you can make a difference to our families, our staff and our students, so come join us! All families will have the opportunity to volunteer when using the Online Check-in Process at the end of July. After that deadline, just print off the Volunteer Opportunities form or email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Volunteering is good for YOU Are you thinking, “What’s in it for me?” The answer is, plenty! Here are some of the things you might get in return for your giving:
Hey...it looks like being a volunteer gives as much good stuff to you as it does to the people, places, or animals you’re trying to help! That’s the secret of volunteering. People who become volunteers usually lead richer, happier, and more satisfying lives than those who don’t volunteer. How do I get involved?
