Originally from California where I graduated with a BA in environmental studies from Sonoma State University, I moved to Washington state with my family and there earned a Masters in Teaching degree from Washington State University in Vancouver. I taught in the public school system for two years before discovering the work of Dr. Maria Montessori. I took my primary training from the Montessori Institute of Atlanta, earning an AMI diploma.

I enjoy the outdoors and spending time kayaking, hiking, horseback riding and motorcycle riding. I like to knit, make jewelry and read mysteries. I have three children who attended California charter schools, and are now mostly grown and pursuing their own paths, which include culinary arts, technology and possibly something in the health care field. I am engaged to be married, and look forward to settling into life in Colorado.

Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois I attended Augustana College and Governors State University, graduating with a B.A. with emphasis in Child Development and Early Elementary Education. I moved to Castle Rock, Colorado in 1980 where I obtained my Child CareDirector's license and became the Director of a large child care center. I was introduced to Montessori education at the Montessori School of Douglas County where, beginning in 1995, I was a Primary classroom assistant and substitute teacher as well as the Director/Coordinator of their yearly Summer Program. In 1998 I joined DCS Montessori School in the spring of its inaugural year as a Primary classroom assistant and the Director/Coordinator of its first Summer Program. After completion of the three year American Montessori Internationale (AMI) Primary Director's training course I accepted a teaching position at DCS Montessori School  where I have remained with the exception of one year as a Primary teacher at the International Montessori Children's House in Denver, Colorado. In 2003 I was nominated for the Douglas County School District's Thank A Teacher program.   

I continue to re-visit Chicago whenever possible where I still have family. I have been married since 1979 and my husband and I enjoy world travel, reading books and hiking and playing with our dog, Bouncer. When not teaching or traveling I like baking and gardening.

A native of Reading, Pennsylvania, Leigh Lasik received her B.A. in English and Education from Penn State University. She taught Middle School Language Arts in North Carolina and later taught LanguageArts as well as the Gifted and Talented program in a Middle School in Pennsylvania. After moving to Colorado, she acquired her Colorado teachers license in Early Childhood and Secondary Education. In Boulder, Colorado, she completed her Montessori Primary Training at the Montessori Education Center of the Rockies, and received her AMS Primary teaching certificate. Her Montessori teaching career began in Conifer, Colorado, where she taught for eight years. Her experience also includes teaching in a private school in Lakewood and since1998, she has been a lead Primary teacher at DCS Montessori School. Leigh has been studying Spanish for several years and has included Spanish as part of her classroom curriculum. Leigh is passionate about Montessori education, which enables children to become independent learners, who develop excellent concentration and self-discipline.

Leigh enjoys spending time with her husband Frank and their grown children who live in the Denver area.  Frank is self employed.  Their daughter Jamie is a dental hygienist, and their son Steve is a lead estimator for a large construction company.  Favorite hobbies of Leigh’s are hiking, reading, horseback riding, working out and travel.

My name is Lili Sannino and I am so happy to be one of the Primary teachers at DCS Montessori. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in early childhood and English language at one of the most prestigious universities in Eastern Europe. I am  Montessori certified (AMS)  and I have a Professional Teacher license (K-6 elementary education, ESL k-12) I have been teaching for more than 19 years in Europe and the  USA. I came to the United States in 2004. Before coming to Colorado I lived in Chicago for two years.  I speak several languages, I love art, and I love to travel all over the world. When I am not at school I am home enjoying my family. I am married to a wonderful Italian man and I have two lovely children.
