The Library wins a grant:  Picturing America

This year we won a grant from the We the People program of the National Endowment for the Humanities.  We the People seeks to strengthen the teaching, study, and understanding of America’s history and founding principles.  To promote this goal, Picturing America brings some of our nation’s most significant images into our school.  It offers a way to understand the history of America, its diverse people and places, its travails and triumphs, through some of our greatest artistic masterpieces.

This exciting new effort in humanities education will expose students to outstanding American art, and it will provide a valuable resource that can help bring the past alive.  An appreciation of American art takes us beyond the essential facts of our history and gives us insights into our nation’s character, ideals, and aspirations.   We have been given 40 beautiful posters to display during the year.  They will be on display in the “square” on the wall opposite the office.   Take a look when you are here.

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHTS!

Now that your children are back to school, please come and visit your child’s classroom and meet with their teacher.  This event is for parents only.  Please make child care arrangements today so you can be a part of our Back to School Night events!

· You will see the classroom and talk about the Montessori curriculum

· Learn about the classroom routine.  Find out what the expectations and goals for the children at that level are.

· You will find out how you can assist the teacher in your child’s education.

· Receive answers to your questions and more!

All programs begin at 6:30pm and end at 7:30pm—simply go to your child’s classroom. 

Please arrive on time—you don’t want to miss a thing!  Remember, you may have to park across the street as our parking lot fills quickly.  Cars parked in Fire Lanes are subject to a $150 fine from the Douglas County Sheriff’s office.
