Patrick, now a certified flight instructor with a commercial pilot license, shared his passion for aviation and gave students an inside look at what it takes to fly. He’s currently working toward earning his multi-engine rating—an exciting next step in his journey through the skies!
Students were thrilled to try on his pilot headset and imagine what it might be like to communicate with an Air Traffic Control Tower someday. The room was full of curiosity, excitement, and big dreams taking flight!

Seeking Candidates for the DCS Montessori Board of Directors
We are pleased to announce the 2026 DCS Montessori Board of Directors Election. We are looking for parents and/or community members who will help us achieve the Board's governance responsibilities. Our primary role is to uphold the mission and vision of our school, as well as to set and ensure compliance with policy.
There are Family and/or Community Director seats in our annual election. A Family Director is a parent or legal guardian with one or more students attending DCSM. A Community Director is any member of the community who is not a parent or legal guardian of a current student.; it may be a grandparent of a student, an alumni parent, or anyone interested in being involved in the education of our children.
The typical time commitment is in the evening and consists of a monthly 2-3 hour meeting, with potential 1-2 hours of additional prep.
Summary of the Election Process
Answer the Candidate Questions:
1. The mission of the DCS Montessori Charter School is to provide students with an opportunity to acquire an education based on the authentic and accredited curriculum founded on the educational philosophy of Maria Montessori. How do you see yourself supporting that mission?
2. What experience do you have which would demonstrate your ability to work as a consensus builder and team player?
3. Are you able and willing to devote the time to support the work of the DCS Montessori Board of Directors?
4. Is there anything else you feel would be important to add?

Attend "Meet the Candidates" night at the April 28, 2026 Board meeting at 6:00 pm (this is not required).
All successful applicants will be placed as candidates on the ballot, which will then be available to all current family members by April 27, 2026. Each family is allowed a single vote, which must be cast in accordance with the rules outlined with the ballot. Voting must be completed no later than May 18, 2026. The votes will be verified, and the Board Secretary will produce the results at the Annual Meeting. This year's Annual Meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 18, 2026 at 6pm. Successful candidates will begin their 2-year terms at next school year's first regular meeting (late July).
We ask that you strongly consider this exciting and rewarding opportunity. We need parents and community members who are committed to our school and our students. Our success depends on your involvement!
