Next week, September 29 - October 3, is the coat drive! We will be collecting coats during morning and afternoon carpools. We still need volunteers to collect coats. If you would like to volunteer, please click here. We have three ways for people to donate to the coat drive:
Donate your gently used kids' and adults' jackets. We will also take hats, gloves, and boots.
Buy new coats, hats, gloves, and boots to donate.
Donate money, and we will use the funds to purchase items (Venmo @Lisa-Dorenfeld with a note that it is for the coat drive, last four of phone number- 1740).
Help us provide warmth for families in need this winter.
If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Paul at paul.brannberg@dcsdk12.org. Thank you!

We will be having our Teacher & Staff Appreciation Luncheon on October 7th from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. This week is a particularly busy and long week for our school's staff. We are currently looking for some fabulous volunteers to help with this event! If you would like to help us with this luncheon, please feel free to sign up to donate a food item, paper goods, or be on the set-up or clean-up crew. You can even get special parking privileges right up front for clean-up duty!
You can sign up for anything from a salad to drinks. You can drop off drinks, non-perishable items and paper products any time you wish before the luncheon. Sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090549A4AF2FAAFF2-58853097-fall#/

We are so grateful to our Elementary staff, parents, and students for enduring the recent heat while our air conditioning was down at the Main Campus due to a motor failure. The great news: the replacement motor is being installed TOMORROW!
Because this is a 400+ pound motor, a crane will be on site and will take up a large portion of the Main Campus parking lot. While about half the lot will remain available, we encourage families to consider alternate parking (Max Drive (the street just west of our Main Campus), across the street, etc.) to ensure the crane can move in and out smoothly.
Please note: This should NOT impact 8:05am arrival or 3:20pm dismissal car lines, but it may affect 11:30am Preschool dismissal as well as anyone trying to access our parking lot between 8:30am and 3:00pm.
Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and support as we complete this important repair!
With appreciation,
Mr. Jeromy, DCS Montessori Charter School

Do you work from home or have a flexible schedule?
We are looking for Substitutes. Our greatest need will be in Primary, Middle School, and Specials classes (Art, Music, PE and Tech). Experience or other qualifications are not required, but Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) is most helpful.
If you are interested, please contact Ms. Sheila at Sheila.Wolfe@dcsdk12.org
In addition, we have a great need for Parent-Volunteers to help 30-60 minutes per day in Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary to help with lunch and/or recess supervision in the event that the Lead Teacher or Educational Assistant is absent. This is an unpaid position, an application is not necessary, and it may or may not be with your child's classroom. Contact Sheila Wolfe and your child's classroom teacher, if you have some availability.

Our new Arrival and Dismissal Flow Charts should help with those drop off jitters. Click here to view them
You’ll need Name Signs with QR Codes. We have printed signs for all students. Some of you picked yours up at the Open House. Preschool parents, if you didn't come to the Open House, you can pick up your QR Cards on Monday or Tuesday. Or they will be sent home with Preschoolers on their first day of school.
At Arrival we will scan the QR Codes for Preschoolers and Kindergarteners (but not 1st-6th graders). Please look for our staff member as you are mid-way into our parking lot area.
At Dismissal we will scan the QR Codes for all students Preschool-6th grades.
Leaving our campus – 1st – 6th Grade Students
If your child is walking, riding their bike, or by any other means leaving our parking area on their own, we must have permission from you to allow them to do so. This includes leaving our parking area to meet your car elsewhere. This permission will be on file unless/until you rescind it. Just click Community at the top of our website, then Dismissal.
日本からの訪問者、グローバルな友情の機会
Our Middle School students hosted 12 Japanese students from Nakamura Middle School while they were touring Colorado this week. Our students communicated using English and Japanese to welcome and introduce themselves, and to give our guests a glimpse of our daily schedule at DCS Montessori. We enjoyed a pizza lunch, played games, and shared some lively conversation with our new friends. This was an amazing opportunity for our students to better understand the connections we can make, despite cultural differences or language barriers, and the interconnectedness of teens worldwide! Our visitors also went to the Museum of Nature & Science, the Colorado State Capitol, the Consulate General of Japan, Rocky Mountain National Park, and a Rockies game while they were in Colorado.
Sayōnara! Peace, love, and safe travels to our new friends!

We have all kinds of great classes for you this Quarter. Hop into www.myschoolbucks.com, click on your student, then visit the School Store to learn more. Your child will go from their classroom to their After School Program, then you will pick them up at 4:30. We make it easy and convenient! Some classes are almost full (Coding for Kids, Love! Tennis, Dungeons and Dragons, Ceramics, Lego Club); while others still have a lot of availability.
