DCS Family, Well the weather outside was frightful, but the Fair inside was delightful! Thank you so much for your incredible support this year with our very eventful Book Fair! We had a lot of challenges and ups and downs, but because of your unwavering support, we still had a very successful Book Fair! Although we did not make our goal this year, we still had $22,000 in sales this year!!! The Library will receive 25% of that in cash to spend on books and supplies directly for your kids! Many people worked very hard to make this Book Fair happen! Thank you to all the volunteers who held signs during carpool to advertise, helped set up the Book fair, helped run the fair and helped take it down! Thank you so much to the Book Fair team who has been working on this fair all year with planning meetings, picking up donations and shopping for the breakfast, helping with advertising, decorating and much, much more! Our team consists of Patty Tucker, Melissa Krytusa, Michele Bushell and Annie Coon. A huge thank you to the team, we truly couldn't have done it without you! Thank you to our school for your help and support with so many details and inconveniences, with special thanks to Ms. Brycie, Mr. Rick, Kevin and Ms. Kristina for going above and beyond! Lastly and most importantly, thank you so much to the woman in charge, Ms. Chandra! She has worked tirelessly ALL year on this fair and has done an AMAZING job with it! Even with our challenges, it ran so smoothly because of her! She is truly a treasure! We are truly overwhelmed with gratitude to our DCS community for the incredible support this year! We had no hopes at all of the amazing success of this book fair. But you came through and we still had a super successful year because of you! Join our Odyssey of the Mind Team! Odyssey of the Mind, abbreviated OM or OotM, is a creative problem-solving program involving students from kindergarten through college. NOTE: At DCS Montessori, our OM program is for students in 4th-8th grade. Team members work together at length to solve a predefined long-term problem and present their solution to the problem at a competition. They must also participate in the spontaneous portion of the competition by generating solutions to a problem they have not seen before. While the long-term problem solution often takes many months to complete and involves various elements of theatrical performance, construction and design, the spontaneous portion occurs on the day of the competition. All DCSD Schools are operating on a 90 Minute Delayed Start today, this includes DCS Montessori Charter School as our school policy is to follow the District. At our Main Campus, we will begin school at 10:00am and arrival will begin at 9:35am. At the Middle School campus, school begins at 9:40am, and students can arrive at school starting at 9:30am. Before school care will begin at 8:30am. Only students who are enrolled in our Before Care program may use this program. Please read your email for more information.

At a recent board meeting, the DCS Montessori Board of Director's unanimously passed a resolution supporting the Douglas County School District Board of Education authorized Bond, placed before voters on our upcoming 2024 ballot, a $490 million Bond. The Bond will impact DCS Montessori's ability to fund technology improvements, school safety upgrades, and an elevator modernization project. The Book Fair is Riding into Town Next Week! November 4th - 8th! We are excited to announce that the 2024 DCS Montessori Library Book Fair is Riding into the library soon! Please plan to join us for all the exciting events for this year’s Saddle Up & Read Adventure. We are encouraged each year by the overwhelming enthusiasm of our students and the support of their families. Hours: Monday 3-5pm; Tuesday 8am-5pm; Wednesday 7am-5pm; Thursday 8am-6pm; Friday 8am-2pm. Join us for Ms. Lynn's 7th Annual Halloween Candy Donation Drive! Bag up that extra Halloween candy and bring it to the DCSM carpool line from Monday, November 4 through Wednesday, November 6. (morning carpool only, not afternoon). You can also drop off your candy to the front office. All candy collected will be donated to the Colorado Volunteers of America (VOA). The VOA uses the donated candy to add a little treat to meals and care packages they build for Colorado's homeless population. During last year's candy drive, DCSM collected and donated over 700 pounds of candy. Let’s donate even more in 2024!

Dear DCSM Families, Thank you so much for your generosity this year with our 2024 DCSM Share the Warmth Coat Drive! This year we donated: 265 coats 113 Winter Wear items (hats, mittens, boots) For a total of 378 items to the schools and families in need! Thank you to every single family who donated items, helped advertise, counted coats, helped pack up and especially to Ms. Tamela who picked up the coats and give them to the students and families who need them! Wonderful Wednesdays in our After School Programs! These classes start on Wednesday, October 23rd: Ceramics - taught by Mr. Sam, our Art Teacher. This class sells out every quarter, so sign your 1st-8th grader up before we run out of spots. Cougar Zoomies (Preschool-Kindergarten) - Get your wiggles out and have a blast dancing to the tunes with your friends! Jewelry Making - Just in time for the Holidays! Beginners and Advanced students alike will have fun making earrings, bracelets, necklaces, keyrings and more. Keep your jewelry for yourselves or make some as gifts for family and friends! Tech Lab MakerSpace - students in 4th-8th grades will have a blast with Ms. Maria as they explore all that technology has to offer! After School Programs for Tuesdays, starting October 22nd: Book Reading Club for 1st-5th Graders - Ms. Lisa, Ms. Lynn, and Ms. Roda will encourage your child to read in this fun setting. This class is 30 minutes longer than others and will dismiss at 5:00pm Coding for Kids - almost sold out - for students in grades K-3 Crochet - Ms. Chrissy of Knotted Love has been teaching our students to crochet for over 10 years. This class is for beginners and students of all levels of crochet ability. 2nd-8th grade Soccer Buddies for students in grades P3-K - this class is one of our most popular! Zoomie Club - NEW - Ms. Brittnie has taught Cougar Zoomies for several years and has just added this Zoomie Club class so that 1st-3rd graders can join the fun of dancing and moving to upbeat music.
